Terms of use

The rules for using this site, in plain words. Using it means you accept them; if you do not, please do not use it.

Updated 11 October 2026.

What the site is

Grammar of Music (Gramática da Música, in Portuguese) is a site for learning music theory, at grammarofmusic.com. These terms cover the site and every way of using it, including from another application connected to it, such as Claude.

What the site keeps about you, and why, is on the Privacy page; it is part of these terms.

Reading is free

Topics, articles, analyses, tools and practice with spaced repetition open free of charge. Reading needs no account.

Your account

An account is for one person. You sign in with a link sent to your e-mail, with a password or with Google; keep that access to yourself, because what is done with it counts as done by you.

You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time by writing to us.

We may suspend or close an account used to harm the site or other people: attacks, automated copying, attempts to get around payment, or anything unlawful.

The subscription

The subscription unlocks the courses and the features that use artificial intelligence. The price, the currency and the period are shown on the Subscription page before you pay.

Payment is by card, through Stripe, and renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You cancel at any time on the Subscription page, under “Manage subscription”; access continues until the end of the period already paid, and nothing more is charged.

Within 7 days of your first payment you may withdraw and get the whole amount back, as Brazil’s Consumer Defence Code provides (art. 49): write to us. After that, a period already started is not refunded.

If the price changes, the new price is announced in advance and applies only from the next renewal; you can cancel before it.

Answers written by artificial intelligence

The tutor and the explanation of each mistake are written by an artificial intelligence model. They can be wrong: read them as a teacher’s comment, not as the final word.

The notes, chords and scales in the figures and exercises are computed by the site’s own music engine, not by the model.

What you send us

Suggestions — links, pieces to analyse, comments — stay yours. By sending one, you allow us to use it, edit it and publish it on the site.

Send only what you have the right to send, and nothing unlawful, offensive or advertising. Everything goes past a person before it appears, and we may decline any suggestion.

The site’s content

The texts, figures, exercises and design of the site are protected by copyright. You may read, study, print and use them in class, and quote short excerpts with a link to the page.

Republishing the content, or copying it in bulk or by automated means, needs our written permission.

Sounds, typefaces and software made by others are used under their own licences, listed on the Credits page.

Ads and links to other sites

The site shows ads served by Google. Links to other sites, including the annotated links, lead to pages we do not control and are not responsible for.

Availability and responsibility

We work to keep the site available and its content correct, but we cannot promise that it will never be down or that it holds no mistakes.

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses arising from the use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.

Changes and applicable law

These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did, and a change that affects subscribers is announced in advance. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. If you are a consumer, you may bring any dispute in the courts where you live.

Questions about these terms: write to [email protected].
